The Land of Skyview Ranch

Skyview Ranch was once a working farm over 100 years ago, complete with apple orchards and cattle. Today, many of those original farm buildings still stand, including an old farm house, a large barn, a smaller hay barn and a chicken coop. Beyond these buildings the rolling hills still stand, a testament to the glacial forces that molded and shaped this part of the country several thousand years ago. Deep gorges run through many parts of the property as well, creating spectacular places for outdoor education and hiking. To add to the variety, the Ranch also has several large fields, perfect for our large herd of grazing horses along with huge group games.
The vegetation of the area is as diverse as the landscape. Nearly half of the 175 acre Ranch is covered in forest. Deep in these forests, those willing to explore will find towering white pines, maple, beech and white sycamore trees. At the highest point in one of our forests stands an old Oak tree that is over 400 years old. One of our horse trails wanders right past it, and it is a beauty to behold, especially since it has been growing here on the property since the very first days of the American colonies in the 1600's.
With old forests and many gorges throughout the property, the animal life at the Ranch is a constant surprise to our visitors. Along with the domestic horses, goats, rabbits, chickens and a donkey week take care of, our Ranch also serves as a home for many species of mammals, insects, birds and amphibians. On any given day, visitors to the Ranch are likely to see Red Tailed Hawks, White Tail Deer, Turkeys, Fox Squirrels, Fireback Salamanders and Ground Hogs. On a good day, some might even get to see the giant Luna Moth, Coyotes, Great Horned Owls, Foxes and Mink. A walk through our woods is always a surprise, as God has blessed the Ranch with a wide abundance of life in this pristine environment.

At Skyview, we have a commitment to conservation. Every staff member, from the Ranch Foreman to the Office Assistant, is charged with the task of eliminating litter and conserving energy. We know that God has given us the task of taking care of this beautiful countryside, and we make every effort to keep it looking as good as it did when He created it in the first place.
