They are the kings and queens of fun. They are the leaders of the camp. They put together games, organize camp activities, run skit nights and keep each of the two to four camp programs per week running the best that it can. Program directors are responsible for running the high adventure elements safely, and are the first summer staff to arrive on the campus to get officially trained and certified in high adventure.
Program Directors are also prayer warriors and serve as a support for the counselors when they have questions or other needs. They should have summer camp experience, and counseling experience is a plus.
High Adventure / Support Staff Supervisor
We love running High Adventure elements that are both safe, fun and challenging at Skyview Ranch. Our High Adventure Supervisor will be in charge of safely facilitating our Giant Swing, Zip Line and Climbing Tower. This individual will also be placed in charge of all the support staff, to take care of their needs and help guide them throughout the summer's rigorous schedule. If you love people, rock climbing, tying knots and challenging campers to go just one step farther than they think they can go, this is probably the right position for you.
Counselors spend the entirety of their week leading their cabin of 10 to 14 campers through camp activities like archery, lake time and high adventure, among many others. Our counselors stay with their campers every hour of the day, making sure they are staying safe and having a great time building new friendships. Counselors are more than trained tour guides however. They have the biggest spiritual influence on campers throughout the week, helping to digest chapel sessions, answering questions that campers have about God, and leading campers to Christ. You serve on the front line, and God does the rest. Interested? Apply today!
One of the best parts about Skyview Ranch is its horses, all 32 of them. The Wranglers are in charge of leading cabins out on trail rides, cleaning the Corral and taking care of the horses. If your knowledge about horses and horseback riding goes beyond the occasional ride on the quarter machine at your local grocery store, then this might be a good job for you. Experience taking care of horses is a plus.
With activities like lake time, the Blob, the Super Slide, the Water Trampoline, the Iceberg and Paddle Boating, we at Skyview place a lot of value on water safety. That is why we hire Life Guards to make sure everyone stays safe and has fun while cooling off during the hot summer months. To be a Life Guard, you need to be officially certified prior to staff training, have great observation skills and be able to stay focused on safety for long periods of time.
Grit-what? That's a common reaction to this name for the guys who keep Skyview running on all eight cylinders. Whether it's mowing the lawns, baling hay, cleaning bathrooms or loading luggage, these guys are responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of Skyview Ranch. More recently the Grithogs were responsible for building a brand new, beautiful corral for our horse herd. If you've ever had the urge to drive a tractor or enjoy the smell of diesel fuel, this job might be for you.
The Ranch operates with help from equipment like lawnmowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, trucks and tractors. The maintenance crew helps keep all this machinery and other technical aspects of the Ranch up and running all summer long. The maintenace crew will work closely with the Maintenance Director as they get to know Skyview's every nook and cranny in their pursuit of keeping everything working to the glory of God.
If you are a fan of food, then you'd be a fan of the kitchen staff. They keep the food coming, the dishes clean and the fountain machine flowing at all times to make sure campers stay properly fed, hydrated and happy all camp week long. This job is for those who take great joy in making people smile through the ministry of food and fellowship.
There's a familiar saying at Skyview. We like to keep everything mom-clean and mom-safe. The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for making sure bathrooms are staying clean and floors are staying dust free. The cleaning supervisor should have a passion for cleanliness along with good people skills as they will be heading up groups of staff and volunteers to take care of different projects throughout the week.
Our worship leader is responsible for putting together all the music for chapel sessions and leading the music. As a worship leader, he or she should be able to sing proficiently, be good with people, should be able to read the mood of the audience and play an instrument like guitar or piano. As a Worship Leader, he or she will work closely with the speaker, the program directors and the media staff to create distraction-free chapel sessions, and an overall encouraging atmosphere during the camp week outside of chapel sessions, where God is the focus.
It takes a lot of organization and imagination to put together a DVD and a package of great photos every week at Skyview. This is where a high-octane Media Supervisor comes in. The Media Supervisor not only gets to have fun snapping photos and shooting video of campers, but also is in charge of producing the DVD's that campers take home and making sure chapel sessions run smoothly. If you love people, and love media, and see a career down the road in media production as a definite possibility, then this is the spot for you.
Memories can be tricky things. When you leave camp, you can't stop thinking and talking about it. Within a few weeks though, you start to forget names and faces. This is where the Media Team comes to the rescue. Aside from running audio and video for chapel sessions, the Media Team is also in charge of putting together high quality DVD's and PhotoCD's of each camp week. Media Staff are on the go at all times, taking pictures and recording video. Enjoy producing great photos and video? Love learning? You may be a good fit for this job.
Do you love running sound boards? Do you enjoy making church services or youth group media presentations run flawlessly? As a member of the Skyview Ranch Media Department, the A/V Manager works closely with the Worship Leader, running the sound board and the front screen (Easy Worship software) during chapel sessions (when not out shooting photos or video). If you know the difference between "Gain Level" and "Volume Level", can properly roll an XLR cable and have used more than two adapters in a row to make an audio connection work, we'd love to have you join team!
The Skyview Ranch store has been a favorite camper hangout for decades. Not only do campers get awesome souvenirs, cowboy hats and candy at the store, but the Ranch store is a great place to chill out between activities. The Ranch Store manager is also the Crafts Manager, helping to create awesome crafts experiences for campers to create something special to take home with them. If you love creating fun, people-centered experiences, and have a real knack for crafts, we'd love to see you at Skyview Ranch.
Other Support Positions
Skyview has need for some special individuals in several other areas of the Ranch:
While Skyview Ranch will have Registered Nurses and Medical Doctors on the property all summer, having a summer staffer dedicated to keeping campers safe and healthy is also essential. Our Health Officer will assist our volunteer RN's and MD's with managing camper medication, organizing medical paperwork during registration, putting together icepacks, and helping to make campers feel comfortable throughout the week. Nursing experience or education is a plus.
Office staff are also essential to the running of the camp. Office staff will assist the Office Manager during morning registration, will give campers their letters and emails from home, and help keep the Ranch office running efficiently. This job is great for someone who pays great attention to detail.
Ebay Fundraising is one of the most unique positions in the world of summer camping. Our Ebay Fundraiser will receive special training from the full time Skyview Staff, and will post items on Ebay on behalf of Skyview Ranch. This self-starting individual will be responsible for taking photos of each item, crafting a description, setting up the auction, packaging and then shipping the item once it is sold. This valuable experience has raised thousands of dollars for Skyview, and will benefit the individual for the rest of his or her life with an excellent skill.
